12-month spending diagnosis

Based on data as of 2026-08-23

This is an example built from a fictional household's statement. The figures are computed by the same analysis engine your own statements would use, but none of this is real spending, and nothing here is saved to your reports.

How the money moved over twelve months

Between August 2025 and July 2026 you actually spent ₩36,409,000. Over the same period ₩41,187,400 came in, so ₩4,778,400 was left over across the year. ₩500,000 went into savings every month and it was never skipped once in twelve months.

Average monthly spending was ₩3,034,083. But the most important number in this report is not the average — it is fixed costs of ₩24,217,200. That is 66% of everything you spent; the remaining variable spending was ₩12,191,800.

Let me say what that ratio means before anything else. The money you can actually adjust in a given month is capped at a little over a million won before you start. Cutting coffee and skipping delivery does not change the structure. What can change sits on the fixed side, and most of this report looks there.

2026-07₩2,969,000₩1,978,300₩990,700

Your heaviest month was November 2025 at ₩3,218,400 and your lightest was April 2026 at ₩2,845,600. The spread is ₩372,800, and twelve months stayed inside that band. No month collapsed, and that is not a common thing to see.

Income was higher than usual in October 2025 (₩3,802,000) and February 2026 (₩3,801,800). Spending rose in both, but stayed within the extra income. Holidays pushed spending and income up together, and there is nothing to worry about there.

Fixed costs decide the structure

Fixed costs climbed from ₩1,988,800 in August 2025 to ₩2,084,500 by January 2026, then came back down to ₩1,978,300 in July 2026. The gap between highest and lowest is ₩106,200.

That curve is heating. Utilities came to ₩1,522,900 over twelve months, of which city gas was ₩757,000 and electricity ₩551,000. Gas rises in winter and electricity in summer, and the two push the total up out of phase with each other. Nothing about your habits changed, so there is nothing to fix here.

Where money leaks, 1: insurance is going to two companies

₩1,680,000 went to insurance over twelve months — Samsung Fire ₩1,104,000 and Hyundai Marine ₩576,000. If the two policies cover genuinely different risks, that is not duplication.

But this is where the largest amount sits. And all 24 charges were identical, month after month. Twelve months at the same amount means they are stable, and it also means nobody has looked at these policies in a year.

Put the two coverage summaries side by side and check only for items that overlap. This single action has the most to gain of anything in this report.

Where money leaks, 2: telecom is going to two carriers

Telecom over twelve months came to ₩1,092,000 — SKT mobile ₩696,000 and KT internet ₩396,000. Two different carriers means you are probably not getting a bundle discount.

Consolidating typically saves ₩10,000–20,000 a month. You give up nothing — you keep the same lines and simply merge the bills. All you need to check is whether an early-termination fee is still running.

Where money leaks, 3: groceries are split between two stores

Groceries and convenience stores took ₩1,920,200 across 48 charges in twelve months. Most of that is E-Mart at ₩1,085,500 and Homeplus at ₩741,500 — ₩1,827,000 between the two.

Moving between two stores makes it easier to buy something you already have at home. This is a habit problem more than an amount problem, and it can wait until 1 and 2 are settled.

What never stopped in twelve months

These went out every single month. This is what "fixed costs" actually means here.

ItemTwelve-month total
Rent₩10,200,000
Home loan₩7,440,000

Fuel₩799,700
City gas₩757,000
Public transport₩656,700
Hyundai Marine₩576,000
Electricity₩551,000

Rent and the loan together are ₩17,640,000. Close to half of the year's spending left through those two lines.

Small but frequent — the picture changes when you count charges

Sorting by amount hides something. Counted by number of charges, it looks like this.

  • Groceries & convenience, 48 charges — ₩1,920,200. Roughly three visits every two weeks.
  • Shopping, 45 charges — ₩1,629,500. Coupang at ₩455,200 and Shinsegae at ₩444,000 are the big pieces.
  • Cafés 42 · eating out 42 — cafés came to ₩200,400 and eating out to ₩895,800. The same number of charges, more than four times the money.
  • Subscriptions 36 · utilities 36 — three or four automatic charges every month.
  • Delivery, 26 charges — ₩600,900. About once a fortnight.

There is one thing to read here. You go to cafés often, but the amounts are small. ₩200,400 is 1% of the whole year. Most people start cutting here; in this budget, cutting it would not show.

What changed recently in subscriptions

Subscriptions came to ₩722,300 over twelve months. And in July 2026 three things happened at once.

  • Netflix ₩17,000 → ₩19,500 (a 15% increase)
  • Spotify ₩13,900 cancelled — ₩152,900 spent over eleven months
  • YouTube Premium ₩14,900 started

You dropped music streaming and picked up a video subscription. One thing worth knowing: YouTube Premium includes YouTube Music, so you do not need to re-subscribe to anything else for music.

That said, with Netflix and YouTube Premium both running you have two video subscriptions. Together they are ₩34,400, and if you genuinely watch both, that is not duplication. Over twelve months Netflix took ₩206,500 and ChatGPT ₩348,000.

What you are doing well — leave it alone

  • ₩500,000 of savings held for twelve months straight. You did not touch it even in November 2025, your heaviest month. This is the strongest part of these accounts.
  • Spending never exceeded income in any month. All twelve.
  • Variable spending stayed between ₩853,400 and ₩1,213,800. That is a sign it is under control.
  • Cafés ₩200,400, delivery ₩600,900. Both under 2% of the year. Looking for savings here is several times less effective than tidying one line of fixed costs.
  • Medical ₩425,200. A year without anything serious.

The next 30 days

  1. Put the two insurance policies side by side. Look only for coverage that overlaps. ₩1,680,000 is riding on this, so this is where to start.
  2. Ask your carrier about bundling. Whether mobile and internet can move to one provider, and what the early-termination cost would be. Part of that ₩1,092,000 comes off immediately.
  3. Pause one video subscription for a month. Turn off the one you watch less and see if you miss it. If you don't, leave it off.

The next 90 days

  1. Consolidate groceries to one store, once a week. The goal is not to halve 48 charges — it is to stop moving between two stores.
  2. Re-read your fixed costs once more. Check in next month's report whether the 30-day changes actually landed on the statement. If they didn't, that is the moment to chase them.
  3. Move whatever you saved into savings. You have already held ₩500,000 for twelve months straight, so this is the surest way to stop the freed-up money from leaking elsewhere.

Doing these three tidies up ₩30,000–50,000 a month on the fixed side — ₩400,000–600,000 a year. You give up almost nothing in daily life.
